🗣️National SEND Reform – online discussion groups with HPCI

Join us next week for a chance to share your views on the Government’s SEND Reform Proposals, either to inform your own consultation response, or to feed into the response that HPCI will be submitting as your parent carer forum for Hertfordshire.

We will be running two online sessions, one during the day and one in the evening.   If you want to take part but can’t make either date, please let us know so that we can consider running a further session.  The content will be the same at both meetings, so please only sign up for one.

Book your place!
Tues 21 April 7:00pm – 8:30pm
Weds 22 April 10:00am – 11:30am

🤝 Join the HPCI Team

HPCI is currently recruiting a Community Engagement Lead and the closing date for applications is soon!

We’re looking for a warm, organised, and community minded person to help us strengthen our engagement with parent carers of children and young people with SEND across Hertfordshire. You’ll build relationships with families, attend community events, reach seldom heard groups, and work closely with our statutory partners to improve parent carer involvement in shaping SEND services.

You’ll need strong people skills, an understanding of SEND, and the ability to work independently.

If you’re passionate about SEND and including families in service improvement, we’d love to hear from you.  The role is 15 hours per week, term time only and applications close at 12 noon on Sunday 19 April.  To find out more, please email kate@hertsparentcarers.org.uk

🏫 Specialist Provision sessions with HCC

Hertfordshire County Council is consulting on its SEND Provision Plan 2026-29, which covers early help, specialist placements and support in mainstream settings. The consultation runs from 23 March to 15 June 2026 and full details are on the Local Offer website.

HCC is holding 2 online consultation sessions where you can share your views on the SEND Provision Plan. In these sessions, there will be a short presentation, followed by a facilitated discussion. You can register for these events by clicking on the links below:

🚌 Post‑16 Transport Consultation – Deadline extended

HCC is consulting on proposed changes to Post-16 Transport. The deadline for comments has now been extended to 19 April. These changes could affect many young people from September 2026 onwards, so we encourage all families to respond, even if your child is currently younger. HPCI has published a document with our comments and concerns – you can read it in full on our website.

⏰ Adult Social Care – potential change to day service times & transport

For adult social care users (including 18-25 year old young people with SEND), HCC is also consulting on day services opening times and transport arrangements. More details are available here.

As always, if you have any views or experiences that you’d like to share with us, you can reply to this email or visit the feedback page.
