School/college transport: tell us about your experience (closes 20 September)
As the new academic year gets under way, we would like to hear from parent carers about their family’s transport experience during the first week or so.
Please tell us what has worked well and about any problems you have encountered, including delays, missed journeys, unsuitable arrangements or communication issues. We are also keen to hear from those families who use Personal Transport Budgets.
Your feedback will help us understand how transport is working for families and where improvements may be needed, so that we can discuss this with Hertfordshire County Council.

HCC announces proposal to provide 150 new post-16 SEND places.
Through our annual survey, parent carers across Hertfordshire have told us that more specialist post-16 places are urgently needed. Since September 2025, HPCI parent reps have been working closely with HCC on plans to increase the number of places and the range of the offer. We welcome the proposed additional funding, which would help address this shortage. You can read about the proposal here and we will let you know whether HCC Cabinet approves the funding.
Government Consultation on Education Other Than At School and Alternative Provision
This week, HPCI hosted two webinars for parent carers to discuss the Government consultation about Education Otherwise Than At School (EOTAS) and Alternative Provision. The slides from the sessions are available here and you can read a summary of the discussions here.
Thank you to all those who joined us. We will use these discussions to inform the HPCI response to the consultation, and we hope families will find this helpful if they want to put in a response of their own.
Discussion about the NHS 10 year plan (Learning Disability and/or autism)
The East of England Regional Co production Group is inviting parent carers who have a child or young person with a learning disability and/or autism to take part in one of a number of online sessions this autumn. These sessions will take place on Thursday 8th October 6.30pm – 8.30pm and Wednesday 14th October 10am – 12pm. Click here to book a place.
